In January 2019, the first brick was laid on top of a concrete foundation for a mixed-use building in Fort Portal, Uganda. Over the last six years those bricks have gone from a modest dream to a big reality. Please help us bring this dream to fruition.

A Brief History of This Project:
The leadership of ChristAid International (“ChristAid”) in Uganda and in the United States shared a vision. With a mixed-use building located in Fort Portal, the ChristAid staff members can move into the building and no longer pay rent for office space. The building will include a banquet hall and apartments for rent, which creates recurring revenue for the organization. As a result, ChristAid would have reduced dependence on donations from the United States. As exciting as it has been to see this building become a reality, it has also been inspiring to see the local impact of the jobs created by this construction project.

Why We Are Involved:
Sustainable. When this phase of fund raising is completed the revenue from the banquet space and 12 apartments will flow to support the many missions of ChristAid. Grandma housing and healthcare, children’s education and teacher housing, establishment of agricultural programs for food stability and many other impactful programs and projects.

• Impact.
  The efforts of ChristAid in the United States are run mostly by volunteers. Staff members in Uganda are paid. Because of the commitments from the many hard-working volunteers, ChristAid has very low overhead (< 10%) and a high percentage (> 90%) of every dollar donated is used for missions and programs.
• Connection.
  Jim, Tim, MaryAnn and Ann all work in jobs that intersect the land development and home building community. Working on this mixed-use building project and seeing the multiplier effect on job creation in the local community resonates with us as it is at the core of why we love what we do.
• Independence.
  Helping ChristAid become more financially independent was an easy “yes”.

Goal: 
We are only $137,000 dollars away from our $137,000 goal and with your help we will achieve this goal by our December 1, 2024 deadline.
